Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson will return to The Kings Theatre in Brooklyn to film two more specials of their hit comedy podcast, 2 DOPE QUEENS. The new, hour-long specials will premiere on HBO in 2019.
HBO first launched the series of specials in February 2018. Also taped at The Kings Theatre the specials were directed by Tig Notaro and guests included Tituss Burgess, Sarah Jessica Parker, Uzo Aduba and Jon Stewart.
2 DOPE QUEENS is WNYC Studios’ first comedy podcast and debuted at the top of the iTunes charts when it launched in 2016. The weekly podcast is a mix of standup and storytelling featuring the hosts’ friends and favorite comedians, talking about sex, romance, race, hair journeys, living in New York, and Billy Joel. Previous guests include: Queen Latifah, Jon Hamm, Iliza Shlesinger, LeVar Burton, Naomi Ekperigin, Vanessa Bayer, Marc Maron, and Fred Armisen.
Williams’ credits include the upcoming “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald,” “Booksmart,” and “Corporate Animals.” Her previous credits include “The Inccredible Jessica James,” “The Daily Show,” “Girls,” and the Upright Citizens Brigade comedy troupe.
Robinson can next be seen in “What Men Want” and previous credits include “Ibiza,” “Portlandia,” “Search Party,” and “Broad City.” She is also the author of The New York Times best-selling book “You Can’t Touch My Hair (And Other Things I Still Have to Explain)” and she is releasing her second book “Everything’s Trash But It’s Okay” on October 16.
